Certification Renewal

Beginning December 31, 2007 all MES’, PRCS’, and MEPD’s must renew their AAHFRP post rehab certifications by completing the Post Rehab Foundations course. The Foundations course consists of 14 audio recordings, which review the key concepts necessary to safely and effectively develop post rehab exercise programs for a wide range of clients. The exam included in the Foundations course must be completed and submitted to fulfill the AAHFRP certification renewal process. For information on the Foundations course go to www.postrehabfoundations.com.  If you participated in or purchased the MES, PRCS and MEPD workshop before January 2007 you must complete Post Rehab Foundations.  The Foundations component was added to all AAHFRP post rehab workshops in January 2007. Those that purchased or participated in one of our certification workshops after January 2007 may renew using one of the two options noted below.

1. You may renew your post rehab certification by completing 10 hours of post rehab related coursework from any organization as long as the primary course instructor is a licensed medical professional (physical therapist, massage therapist, physician, chiropractor, nurse, etc). This allows you to select from a wide range of courses.  The licensure requirement for the primary instructor ensures quality instruction and delivery of the course content within the post rehab scope of practice. Utilizing techniques that breach the scope of practice may jeopardize your AAHFRP certification.

2. You may renew your certification by completing 10 hours of observation in a sports medicine, physical therapy or chiropractic clinic setting. These hours must be completed under the supervision of a licensed medical professional. During these hours you will simply observe the facility’s staff members work with patients. Verification of the observation hours is satisfied by obtaining a letter, on the facility’s letterhead, signed by the supervising medical professional indicating the date(s) and number of hours completed.

Please download the  certification renewal form by clicking the link below. When you submit your renewal documentation or answers to the Foundations exam to complete your renewal, please include a copy of your MES, PRCS and/or MEPD certificate. If your certification expired more than one year ago, you must reinstate your certification. To reinstate your certificate you must complete the Post Rehab Foundations workshop and show proof of 10 hours of continuing education following the guidelines outlined above. Complete the Foundations course and submit the answers to the Foundations exam along with the proof of continuing education. You may pay the $100 reinstatement fee below using the “Certification Reinstatement” link.
